Project Description
The back garden belonged to a customer who was a keen gardener but who had been unable to keep on top of things due to health issues. The pebbled border, once the home of many beautiful potted plants was now a graveyard, itself overrun by bindweed. The bindweed had taken over the entire back of the garden including the sadly overgrown choisya and had reach over 7 feet high down most of the length of the boundary mesh.
The first task was to remove all the pots, clear out all the long dead plants, and stack neatly for future use. Next the surface bindweed was identified and removed which revealed just how much had been left underneath the weed membrane on which the pebbles were resting and which surrounded the main shrub. The customer understandably did not want to remove the entire membrane in order to try and remove the bindweed in its entirety so we removed as much as possible, rolling back the membrane where possible. Back above ground, the bindweed was then painstakingly unthreaded from an old and much loved choisya bush and then from the 7 feet high mesh of the adjacent pet area that ran the length of the garden.
We then turned our attention to the paving area, meticulously removing the accumulated weeds from between the slabs before carefully identifying where the grass had overgrown onto the paving. This was then neatly edged and removed along with all the weeds growing between the paving and the house. Last but not least, the choisya bush had its first prune and shape for years, which according to the customer, left it looking “better than it ever had”. A follow-up visit a number of weeks later saw any bindweed regrowth treated with an appropriate weedkiller. WOW, what a difference!
